I was sitting on the porch swing the other day and was content watching the chimney sweeps that have nested under the eave of our carport. They have about 4 or 5 babies hidden in the nest. They lay motionless at all times until they hear the mother fly close and then they stretch out their little necks and try to devour whatever she gives. As soon as she is gone they hunker down and go dormant again.
I see myself as those little birds. I sit in my safe little nest as still and quiet as can be until I hear God say something or even sense his moving then I dart up and try to get all I can only to go dormant again as soon as the experience is over. I stay that way until God says enough is enough and pushes me from the nest and forces me to soar among the clouds where he designed me to be.
The only difference is that the birds will do what they were designed to do for the remainder of their life but I find myself back in the nest again and again.
God give me the boost.....

Love the analogy. How often we stay tucked in our nest because we feel safe.
